Caesars Entertainment launches special promotion to encourage players to wear masks

When casinos in Las Vegas reopened in early June, wearing a mask was encouraged but not mandatory for guests. The casinos reopened after months of non-operation in an effort to slow the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Even though the venues are open now, efforts are still being made to try and avoid new cases. After images were released from the first few days of operation with most guests not wearing masks, casinos are now trying to encourage players to wear them.

Caesars Entertainment has started a new promotion where players who are wearing a mask can earn free play. Guests who are active in wearing a mask on one of the Caesars properties in Nevada could easily be tapped on the shoulder and provided with free play, just for helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Giving Away Cash:

During this past week, a team walked through the Harrah’s Casino, Caesars Palace, The Linq, Flamingo, and Paris casinos and began approaching people who were wearing masks. These people were rewarded for wearing the mask and a total of 375 people were given a boost to their gambling money. The operator gave away $7,500 just during the weekend alone.

The promotion is offered to Caesars Rewards members only and the players must be wearing a mask. However, anyone can visit the property and sign up to be part of the program.

So, how long with the special promotion take place? According to reports, Gia Silvaggio, the public relations specialist for Caesars Entertainment, stated that the promotion would end if wearing masks were to become mandatory.

New Table Game Policy:

The new promotion at Caesars properties comes at a time when Nevada casinos must now require players at table games to wear a mask. This newly instated policy was made last week by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

The health and safety policy for casinos was updated by the board to include mask-wearing when players are seated at table games and there are no barriers. This change was made less than two weeks after casinos opened in the state.

The Culinary Union in Nevada is calling for leaders to require guests to wear masks in all public places to protect casino and hotel employees. The union has pointed out an increase in cases along with their request. The group would like the state to follow in the footsteps of California, where mask are mandatory for guests who are in indoor and outdoor settings and social distancing is not possible.
