Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Harris having season – ending Ankle Surgery

On Thursday, March 3^rd, 2022, prior to their game that night, the Brooklyn Nets announced that their quality role player and shooting guard, Joe Harris, will have season – ending surgery in order to repair his damaged left ankle. The Brooklyn Nets eventually went on to lose that game on Thursday night to the Miami Heat with a final score of 113 to 107.

Joe originally had an initial surgical procedure on one of his ankles back on November 29^th, 2021, and his preliminary expectation from the Brooklyn Nets’ medical staff was for Harris to be sidelined from that surgery approximately somewhere between 4 and 8 weeks if everything went to plan, but it didn’t and his ankle failed to properly heal to the point where Joe was able to manage getting back on the court and feel very comfortable with all basketball activities.

 “Although Joe worked diligently over the past several months to rehab his ankle and exhausted every possible avenue in order to get back on the court with his teammates, it has been determined that he will require an additional arthroscopic surgery in the coming weeks,” the Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks stated. “While it is expected that Joe will make a full recovery following the procedure, it will unfortunately result in him missing the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs.

“We know how deeply disappointed Joe is to miss this stretch run, but he remains a huge part of who we are as an organization and while he won’t be able to contribute on the court, his presence and positivity around the team will continue to be felt by all.”

Joe has attempted to proceed with several different rehabilitation work throughout the last few weeks so that he could get back on the hardwood for the Brooklyn Nets, but the Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nashhas reportedly mentioned multiple times that Harris was really never capable to improve to the point that he was allowed to rejoin the Brooklyn Nets in any real formal practice sessions.

“He is just the quintessential teammate,” Marks explained during an interview with the YES Network prior to their ball game. “He is what defines a Brooklyn Net … we feel terrible for Joe and we all know just how much he means to this group.”

This recent piece of bad news involving Joe Harris comes on the same night that the Brooklyn Nets’ best player, and one of the greatest stars of the entire NBA, shooting forward, Kevin Durant, was finally able to make his much – anticipated return to the court following Durant having to miss an entire month and a half of ball because of a sprained MCL in his left knee.

Marks also mentioned in his recent interview that the Brooklyn Nets new swingman, Ben Simmons, who was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers is still sidelined due to an issue regarding his back. Ben’s time table for his return currently remains unclear, and Simmons has not played any serious NBA basketball since last May of 2021 following Ben asking for a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers last summer.

“Unfortunately, his back stiffness has delayed his ability to get on the court with his teammates,” Marks goes on to say.“So, he’s been rehabbing this last sort of week to 10 days, and now he’ll progress throughout this week with some individual work; hopefully by the end of next week, he’s getting more into the team environment. And then we can really ramp up and start him getting into sort of game shape and so forth.”

 Throughout the 2021 – 2022 season of the National Basketball Association Harris has averaged 11.3 points per game, 4.0 total rebounds per game, 1.0 assists per game, 0.5 steals per game, and 0.1 blocks per game. This NBA season Joe has been shooting 45.2 % from the field, an amazing 46.6 % from the 3 – point line, and 83.3 % from the free throw stripe. It is unbelievable that Harris shoots better from 3 – point range than he does from the floor anywhere that you can get a 2 – point bucket.

Over the course of his 8 – year NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets, Harris has averaged 11.1 points per game, 3.2 total rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, 0.5 steals per game, and 0.2 blocks per game. Throughout Joe’s entire NBA career, he has been shooting 48.3 % from the field, an amazing 43.9 % from the 3 – point line, and 78.0 % from the free throw stripe. Harris is no Michael Jordan, but it is safe to say this man can shoot the rock.
