Hawaii will not become the Las Vegas of the Pacific if a new gambling bill is passed in the Senate.
The bill, backed by Senator Stanley Chang, will ban advertising of gambling in Hawaii by any Nevada-licensed company and lists heavy fines for anyone breaking the rules.
The bill prohibits advertisements for Nevada hotels, resorts, or other recreational services that promote casinos or gambling devices licensed by the Nevada Gaming Commission from being broadcast, televised, marketed in printed publications or displays, distributed online, or otherwise communicated by electronic means within the state.
There is already a bill tabled that would legalise retail sports betting and poker games. Only Utah of the US and Hawaii have no forms of gambling.
