The new national self-exclusion register in Australia is to be named BetStop, it has been announced by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
BetStop will hold details of players in both online and telephone gambling. Under the auspices of the authority, there will be a requirement that online betting providers promote BetStop on their websites and other marketing tools.
Operators will be able to check whether their players are on the register and, if so, they have to avoid offering them playing opportunities.
