Sydney’s Star casino has been fined for breach of the public health order after players were seen too close together.

The Liquor and Gaming NSW authority issued the fine, the second to be issued after the Golden Sheaf Hotel in the city was also found to be flouting the distancing rules.

Leisure and Hospitality Group, owned by the Woolworths stores organisation, has been fined A$172,000 for illegally providing free drinks to gamblers on poker machines. The company is the third largest poker machine operator in the country. Two of its pubs have been closed down for two weeks for the contravention.
