In Canada and the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) reportedly launched the western province’s first legal online casino at PlayAlberta.ca on Thursday complete with a range of slot, instant-win and lottery entertainment.

According to a Friday report from iGBNorthAmerica.com, the new real-money domain was designed by iGaming innovator NeoPollard Interactive and comes complete with the GameSense responsible gambling tool from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), which allows punters in ‘The Sunshine Province’ to establish betting and time limits and access a plethora of advice and support.

Crowded club:

The source also revealed that the premiere of PlayAlberta.ca means that Saskatchewan is now the only one of Canada’s ten provinces not to offer some form of online gaming with officials in Calgary said to be hopeful that the new service will bring in additional revenues to help ease a local budget that has been seriously damaged by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Expanding entertainment:

Alain Maisonneuve serves as President and Chief Executive for the AGLC and reportedly described PlayAlberta.ca as ‘another way’ his state-run organization ‘is delivering a responsible gambling choice for the benefits of Albertans’.

Maisonneuve reportedly declared…

“The province’s regulated online gambling website will offer players expanded entertainment options with integrated responsible gambling features and generate revenue to support valuable programs and services Albertans rely on every day.”

Annual approximation:

iGBNorthAmerica.com reported that it remains to be seen what impact the debut of the new iGaming domain will have on the AGLC’s budget projections as the Alberta authority had not originally planned to launch PlayAlberta.ca until sometime next year. The organization had earlier purportedly expected to record aggregated receipts for the year to next March of slightly over $1 billion before this amount rose to around $1.1 billion for the ensuing twelve-month term.
