Australian slots maker Ainsworth Game Technology thanked a sharp improvement in its fortunes in Latin America for a turnaround in its fortunes.

The year-end to June 30 reflected the return to normality after the pandemic, with post-tax profits of US$8.2m, compared with a $37.1m loss last year – an improvement of 38 per cent. The second half of the year yielded $83m in profits.

The company’s EBITDA was $25.8m, compared with a loss of $18.5m in the previous year.

AGT’s rapid turnaround brought a 50 per cent uplift in GGR in its overseas business that now provides over 80 per cent of its income.

The company said that it had enjoyed a revived performance in North America (up 30 per cent), while its revenue from its sales in Latin America rose by a huge 185 per cent, directly reflecting the return to normality in the region.
