The age verification device, ICU, developed by Innovative Technology (ITL) in the UK, has received a top accolade.

The Age Check Certification Scheme has rated it as qualified to control access to age-restricted goods and services, concluding that ICU is at least 98.85 per cent reliable.

The ICU project manager at ITL, Andrew O’Brien, said: “We are one of the first providers to receive this robust, impartial certification from ACCS. On average ICU under-estimated age by only 0.19 years and has a mean absolute error of only 1.22 years, making it one of the most accurate in the world.”
