The head of the American Gaming Association has demanded early prosecutions of illegal sportsbook and casino operators.

Bill Miller, CEO, addressing the National Council of Legislators of Gaming States at the end of last week, said that prosecutions of illegals would send out a clear message to operators taking bets in the “grey and black” markets.

He said that the AGA would vigorously challenge regulators to take action against unregulated sites. Miller said that some of the illegal operators intended to become such an irritant to the regulators that they would legalise their activities “as they have with other parts of the industry.”

The AGA has already held talks with the FBI following an approach by Miller to the US Attorney General Merrick Garland.
